We are now accepting submissions!
We are delighted to announce the launch of Harris Manchester College Journal (HMCJ), a pioneering, student-led digital journal dedicated to showcasing scholarly work from students, early-career researchers, fellows, and any of our HMC research collaborators. This is an excellent opportunity to either be published in a peer-reviewed journal for the first time or to build on existing publications!
Members of HMC at any stage of their studies are invited to submit work to the journal, which will be hosted by the Bodleian Library's Shortform Hosting service (SHOx). Publications will receive a DOI, be indexed, and will be listed on the Bodleian Library's Hosting space. The journal is open access, and there are no charges to submit, publish, or read.
We welcome a range of submissions, including:
- Research papers exploring new questions and methodologies
- Early-stage research writing (such as tutorial essays) that deserves a platform and constructive feedback
- Literature/Book reviews synthesizing current debates
- Thought pieces connecting academic inquiry with real-world perspectives
- Interdisciplinary scholarship bridging multiple fields
Perhaps you have a tutorial essay which got great feedback, or an extended essay you're really pleased with? Why not turn that work into a publication by submitting to our supportive, collaborative journal? Unlike traditional journals our peer review process is designed to help you refine your submission (where necessary), with a focus on working with you to develop it for acceptance rather than rejecting at an early-stage. You'll receive:
- Constructive feedback from nominated peer reviewers and our editorial board
- Guidance from Editors and Academic Advisors
- The opportunity to revise and develop your ideas in dialogue with the editorial team
- Recognition and visibility through the fully-funded Bodleian's Oxford Shortform Hosting Service (SHOx)
